COVID-19 AND HOT SPRINGS

LATEST: HYDROTHERMAL THERAPY DISCUSSION

Dear Wellness Colleagues,

Please find attached the latest version of the Hydrotherapies Discussion Document.  This document has gone through a series of many edits and iterations and now includes a section on “Common Sense Safety”.

I hope this can now be placed on the Hydrothermal Initiative and the Hot Springs Initiative websites along with the FEMTEC website. It would be good if comments were enabled so that it can remain a living document that initiates a global discussion.

Please note I will be speaking to health leaders in Europe and Africa about some of the points in this document at the upcoming World Health Innovation Summit this Saturday in the hope of promoting policies favourable to hydrothermal therapies.

Many thanks for everyone who has helped with this document so far.

Dr. Marc Cohen

And finally, here are the latest recommendations for public pools, hot tubs, and other water playgrounds as provided by the cdc: Considerations for Public Pools, Hot Tubs, and Other Water Playgrounds During Covid-19

However the above articles do not yet have guidance regarding public beaches. "CDC is not aware of any scientific reports of the virus spreading to people through the water. The previously mentioned guidance identifies a number of steps operators of public pools and beach managers can take to help lower the risk of spreading the virus at public beaches. "

COVID-19 and the American Workplace

The Wage and Hour Division provides information on common issues employers and employees face when responding to COVID-19, and its effects on wages and hours worked under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), job-protected leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA).

FFCRA will help the United States combat and defeat COVID-19 by giving all American businesses with fewer than 500 employees funds to provide employees with paid leave, either for the employee’s own health needs or to care for family members. The legislation will ensure that workers are not forced to choose between their paychecks and the public health measures needed to combat the virus while at the same time reimbursing businesses.
