HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF THERMAL TOURISM

Angelia Taylor and Jessica Meath from the Hot Springs Association attended the virtual International Congress of Thermal Tourism held on September 29-30. The overarching themes of the congress were heritage, experience and tourism. Repeated trends within these themes included expanding the wellness experience to the surrounding landscapes, reaching broader age groups and incorporating local experiences such as culinary delights.

HSA MEMBERS PARTICIPATE IN THE GLOBAL THERMAL THINK TANK IN ISRAEL

Two members of the Hot Springs Association, Jacob Foerstner, owner of Riverbend Hot Springs in Truth or Consequences, NM and Tina Newman with Castle Hot Springs north of Phoenix, AZ joined HSA Executive Director Vicky Nash at the Global Thermal Think Tank from October 29 - 31. Twenty-four hot springs industry professionals represented Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Asia, and the United States. Vicky Nash said, "The international comradery that developed during this journey is invaluable. These strong relationships open up many opportunities for collaboration in the future." The gathering convened in Tel Aviv prior to the Global Wellness Summit. The group toured several historic locations throughout Israel including Synergy Spa overlooking the Dead Sea and the thermo-mineral springs resort Hamat Gader Spa Village Boutique Hotel & Spa. One of the highlights was a talk with geological engineer, Eli Raz, discussing the growing number of sinkholes occurring due to the rapidly receding Dead Sea waters. One detrimental impact was the recent closure of a hot springs resort along it's shoreline.

LAST CALL FOR VIDEO CONTRIBUTIONS FOR SOAKEMBER

This year, Soakember celebrates Local Hot Spring Experiences That Amplify The Vitality Of All. The event is a way to honor the history of geothermal water-based healing and wellness practices by celebrating our connection through water globally.

Not sure where to begin? Here's some behind the scenes tips from The Springs Resort.

Production Tips:
  • Film during slow times to be able to pull employees as last minute models.
  • Engage locals to volunteer and contribute. Musical talent, content creators and wellness enthusiasts may be more than happy to participate in exchange for a soaking pass.
  • You don't necessarily have to close off the pools. Soakers are often intrigued and feel special to be an observer to the behind-the-scenes process.
  • If 3-5 minutes of one activity feels too long create a compilation of shorter clips.
  • No crew, no problem. Footage from a quality phone camera is perfectly acceptable. Just be sure to reference the video specifications here before you record.

After submitting your video participate in the event on November 12 by sharing photos from your hot springs destination using #soakember. Your photos and video will be reshared through Soakember's social media channels.

What can you use this content for after November? Anything and everything! Post it on your website, leverage social media and boost current campaigns.
