MEET ANGELIA TAYLOR, MPH, MTA, PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Angelia Taylor, a proponent of using nature-based experiences and resources to help improve community health and wellness, has been named Program Director of the Hot Springs Association.  She will serve as a liaison to develop consensus on optimal water treatment procedures, research basic operational guidelines for hot springs facilities, review and recommend water wellness programs that facilities can implement and facilitate an international hot springs business exchange program. In addition, she will coordinate training opportunities for professional development and manage future Hot Springs Connection conferences. . . more

ESSENTIAL SERVICE DESIGNATION

 In response to the exclusion of the hot springs industry in the official “Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce” advisory list, the Hot Springs Association tasked Angelia Taylor with compiling research on what is involved to earn an "Essential Service" designation.


Deep Dive

It has been determined that progress in this area must be led by local governments in which hot springs are located.

Call to Action

To become involved in a grassroots-style development of guidelines for essential service designation review the suggestions for action recommended in the report.
 

HOT SPRINGS CONNECTION CONFERENCE RECAP

Professionals representing over thirty thermal mineral pools, spas and resorts from coast-to-coast met at Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas on May 9-12, 2022 for the fourth Hot Springs Connection conference. The event was a huge success and elicited multiple compliments from attendees.

A full spectrum of topics were covered including:

  • growing trends in facility upgrades and overall property revitalization

  • health and wellness

  • the importance of protecting hot springs resources

  • solutions for property insurance in a landscape with ever-changing liability 

  • tips on attracting and retaining employees

  • market research and industry trends

  • an Australian case study which will ultimately measure and assess the socio-cultural, environmental and economic impacts of hot springs across the globe

  • Examples of effective marketing and public relations strategies such as the Hot Springs of America website, the Colorado Historic Hot Springs LoopWorld Bathing DayWorld Wellness Weekend and Soakember.
